brewing tomorrow :D hoping to sort out those newbie gremlins.
Im upping the grain bill on a Caladonian Porter clone recipe

grains

M/O 3500g
Wheat malt 450g
Amber malt 220g
Crystal malt 200g
Choc malt 140g

Hops are 25g fuggles and 25g goldings at start of boil.

target brewlength is 23l. I have no targets for SG, ABV or IBUs, ill just see how it turns out. :D

One question tho. Yeast; S-04 or Nottingham? Is there a preference for porters?

Nottingham it is.
I havent used nottingham yet but ive heard a lot of good things about it so i bought some. :D
Thanks Robsan :thumb:

Mash is on 66degC

Going well?

I brewed a clone of the same beer myself on sunday, but I'm fermenting it with some Fuller's yeast reclaimed from a bottle of Bengal Lancer. (Hope no one comes along and says that was a bad idea! ).

Good luck with it :thumb:

all done with no major problems. :D
managed to collect 30l from sparge before the magic 990 mark. boiler couldnt handle it all tho, made a bit of a mess  so i drained some off and added it back when the level dropped enough. did a vigorous boil for the last 30 mins to get the volume down to 24l and collected 23l of finished wort. ill let it cool naturally overnight, in a sealed fv, because i still dont have a chiller and pitch yeast tomorrow.
