Just realised that I've put far too much priming sugar in my keg that I filled yesterday. It's a Christmas ale, but I've put enough sugar in for lager.

Can I just vent it after a few days to reduce it down or is there a better way of fixing this?

I'd either let it vent for a few days, or let it ferment all the sugar out before re-priming.

You could track the gravity with a hydrometer and reseal the keg when there is just enough left, but that seems like more effort than it is worth.

I've loosened the lid off and I'll let it sit for a couple of weeks then re-prime (properly!). Thanks for the suggestion.

I wouldn`t worry too much, priming in a barrel is mainly to produce pressure to pour your beer, not for creating fizz, but don't add anymore sugar!!!!!
