I am taking a look through this book and notice that most of his recipes require the addition of sugar.
At what stage in the process is this added?

Many thanks.

Add it to the boil. However I just adjust the grain bill and increase the amount of pale malt and don't bother with the sugar.

Thanks!

Do you add pale malt in the same ratio? Meaning, if Wheeler asks for 300g sugar, do you add 300g pale malt?

Rich... do you use any beer softwear ?
Brew Mate is free and easy.
Just add your ingredients as in the GW book. Then you can tinker, want to leave the sugar out delete that row, you will notice the %abv will drop so add a few more 100gms of pale malt, watch the aby rise. Keep ammending till you get what you want.
You can do that with all the ingredients, make your brew darker or lighter, stronger or weaker, its part of the fun of designing YOUR beer.

Sorry Rich I should have explained in my first post but PD seems to have done it for me  .

Personally I use GW's Beer engine download here
