I like the sound of the very clean and neutral and leaving all the hop aromas and its flocculant but for my brewery one of the main characteristcs a yeast has to have is that it's fast fermenting yeast, which notty certainly is. But M44 sounds good to keep in mind. I may well give it a go. Thanks for the info :hat:

Well worth a go at some point. It does attenuate really well, and quickly, but it does need that time to clean up after itself.

Their prices are great but not for bulk as I priced this morning as I was looking 1kg and that were twice the price of Geterbrewed and another £3 so ordered from Geterbrewed as well as 23kg of grain..

If you go direct to CML they'll do their best to beat any price you can find on the net. That's my experience anyhoo

Last week I kegged two pales that I had brewed. In one I'd used us-05 and in the other CML US Pale Ale yeast. Both looked clear whilst syphoning but the CML yeast had a yeasty smell to it.
I saved a jar of slurry from each of the brews incase I had the time to brew this weekend. I haven't yet tasted the beers but I have been surprised to see that the beer in the jar of us-05 has a slight haze after being refrigerated for a week whilst the CML yeast is crystal clear! I have high hopes for this yeast :)

That sounds quite similar to MJ M44. A bit slower to clean up than US-05 but very desirable finisher.

I recently brewed using the US Pale Ale yeast and got 79% attenuation.

Have also used the Kristalweisen yeast which is in the FV now. Will report back in a week or so with how that goes...

Blimey that's good. What other characteristic did you get/notice? Flocctuation; is it good did it drop like a brick or is it a bit more powdery? Flavours; Did you notice it promoted hops or malt more or was it more balanced.
Sorry for the third degree but it would be good to get some more info on these CML yeasts as there so cheap

I've not used them myself but I understand they are repackaged from bulk packages.

The guy runs a pilot brewery that brews small batches to other bands. It sounds like they sell off the left overs through ebay.

As I understand it the yeast isn't in specialised packing so there is a small chance of contamination but the price seems good.

I'm sure others will have tried it.

I have used both yeast and hops (just clearing some mead that the yeast has done a excellent job on) and they are all in specialised packaging not has you say , also they do not sell left overs has you say ,:nono: every thing is fresh and excellent quality has many on this site will testify,

Yes, they cleared this up on another forum. I think the hops are spare from their working brewery but they said the yeast comes direct from a German manufacturer.

My guess is that it is Lallemand who make Danstar yeasts. If that's the case and they are as cheap as they are then it's great.

I sent them a message about hops recently and got a very friendly and prompt reply. Will be buying some hops from them soon.

Only bottled my pale ale two days ago so a little early to tell as to what the final beer will come out as - though the sample before bottling was very clean. It flocculated big chunks of trub at the bottom of the FV - far more so than my usual experience with US05.

Just bottled a Punked IPA clone using the US pale yeast. OG 1052 Fg 1008 84% attenuation. I did use 2 packs of yeast but its so cheap. Tastes very hoppy going to enjoy this. The Jaipur clone using same yeast was is extremely clear. Very happy with the results and saves making starters( which i hate).
Going to do a porter with the UK ale yeast soon. Probably tap you up for some help with the recipe. :)

I'm hearing some good things about this yeast. I think I might order some.

So a quick update on the Kristalweiss yeast...

Fermented to 80% attenuation which is on par with my benchmark WLP380.

Fermented a little high at an average of 20c in the hope of bringing out some banana but overall the yeast profile is very mute.

After 10 days in bottle I detect a tiny whiff of some fruitiness on the palate but otherwise it's the hops shining through this one (Perle in this instance).
Has flocculated right down but not exactly 'kristal'.

Unfair to compare to WLP380 but this is very meek as a Hefeweiss yeast.

Perhaps it needs an higher temp. I usually got up to around 24c to get banana flavours

24c with this yeast strain?

When I used WLP300 I made the mistake of a high temp ferment and it was like a distilled banana juice... Soon made the shift over to WLP380 for more emphasis on the clove phenols.

Back to this Kristalweissen yeast... I've got a second batch under way with an American Wheat using Falconers Flight in late addition and should be a good beer given the yeasts neutrality...

No not with this strain.

I ordered 5 packets on Friday and arrived yesterday whilst brewing two quick brews both took off just after 4 hours dry pitched and not stirred and now bubbling like a train.Cant believe how quickly they started but the proof shall be in the drinking.Oops I forgot to take gravity readings.....

I've got 10 packs of the American Ale yeast in the freezer. Planning to use two of them in a DIY Dog Old World IPA this weekend. I'll report back when it's under way.
