Long time lurker... etc, etc.

I used to brew beer as a kid after my father thought it would be a good hobby for a 13 year old boy! Anyway, after making bottles explode or stuff that was so energetic it threw itself out of the bottle when opening I gave it up.

When I was about 30 someone bought me a wine kit that ended disasterously. I ended up throwing away something foul that had a kind of sherry quality to it but not in a nice way.

Now, aged 47, I've just tried my first succesful glass of wine brewed in a water cooler bottle using a mixture of red, white grapes orange and cherry juice. My friend had done a wine made from cordial and I thought why not I'll give it a go.

Perhaps it's because I've not tried too hard that this time I've not ruined it, or perhaps wisdom really does come with age.

I look forward to brewing a few more successes and hopefully sharing knowlege with everyone here.
