I was lucky enough to win one of these (thanks Inkbird) but been struggling a bit trying to figure out whats best to use it for, exactly how to wire it up and what sort of box to put it in. So i thought i would start a thread for anyone else struggling to get their heads around wiring up a PID

After a search i came across this which is reasonably easy to follow.

What i did notice though is they connect it to a light (heater) but don't show you how you would connect it to a fridge.
I will either be using it to control the mash temps with my ace boiler which will be customised with a recirculating pump or the keezer i hope to get soon.
I also have an STC1000 so not worried about what i use for either.

This is also good [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUFSMk8KVK4[/ame]

One thing i need to get is a suitable box. Was also thinking of adding an analogue amp meter and maybe an on/off switch.
Another thing i need to buy is the wire, can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have a leccy mate buy he isn't local so i plan to build it and will probably get him to give it the once over before i use it.

Thanks for the info. I had forgotten that i will need a heatsink as well. Think i will get a larger box than you to avoid lots of swearing. I found a rocker switch in the cupboard so once i get all the bits i will have a go at putting it together. Its been a headache but good to learn something new. Just hope i can do a decent job of cutting out the holes .
