I Have a couple of 20L FVs on the go at the moment, but fancy having a bit of an experiment on the run up to Christmas whilst they are fermenting.

How does this sound as a little 5L Stove Top Brew.

Looks good but the IBU's are too high for a mild you need to take it down to 20- 22

Thanks any recommendations for a suitable hop for a mild, any amounts, as it looks with what is available for a traditional British Hop that getting the IBUs down I would be adding just a dusting and not much more.

The fuggles you've got is perfect. Very traditional. However your brewing software seems have made some sort of cock up. 7g of your fuggles @45 and 10 are fine. Brewmate calculates this at 22.6 IBU but your software is saying 30.1 IBU.

The figures are punted out of Brewers Friend as I can get to that from this laptop at work, I'll stick it into BeerSmith later and see what I get out.

Run it through BeerSmith with a couple of tweaks, dropped the Fuggles to two additions of 6g and it seems to look like a decent Mild at about 3.1%

I may also try and do this one as a short mash\boil experiment and only do 30 minutes for each.

Finally got around to finding time to do this, slight tweaks to recipe on the fly, getting more into Brewers Friend as my software of choice.

Photo is pre-pitch as was still cooling, cool now and yeast is in, just dumped dry.

A lot of break and hop debris in the DJ due to me just using my small pot with no filters, but that'll settle out and from experience rarely effects the final beer flavour.

Hit 2 points above my target SG at 1.034, trial jar was a little hoppy, but we'll see how it mellows over ferment and time.
