The father in law brought round his brewing gear for me today.

Heat pad
2 off Pressure kegs( one i have found has a busted tap) no hardship there.+ Gas :thumb:
FV
a wine press
3 DJ's( one is brown though NTB)
plus sundries, etc.

in the FV was a stash of red wine kits circa 2003.

Temptation was to great( as i now have a raft of gear) dug out a merlot kit binnned the yeast and other tat.Opened the juice gave it a sniff, tasted it, no dramas there. Mixed in the water bit low on OG, banged in a bit of sugar, nutrient, youngs super wine yeast all spare from earlier projects.

So what the hell.
Cost me FA, DJ spare.
its 50/50

As you say, if it's costing you SFA apart from some fresh yeast, a campden tablet, sorbate and maybe a small amount of sugar, I would certainly get them started.

And a wine press too, nice one Cyril :thumb:

just had a quick check on the OD beast.
bubbling a lot slower now.
smells good.
sg 1005
Tastes good so far, should be a mellow Merlot, pleased so far. :)

this out of date caper seems to have a 2003 theme( read in another thread).
The one im doing at the moment seems to be going bostin, racked it a few days ago, letting nature do its thing as well as the CT and PS.
Tasting sound too!
got two more Beaverdale OD jobs and a cheap looking Rose kit. what the hey.

was this the 7 year ditch?
