Getting a bit fed up of paying 5.99 for a time for Bruclean.
Can I use Beer Line Cleaner ???
Seems to have similar ingredients.

I'm new to home brewing so no expert, but after years working behind the bar i immediately recognised the smell when i first used the VWP steriliser that came with the starter kit - it was beer line cleaner.

It will clean and sanitise in one, I sometimes use it on really heavy crud and have done the odd corny with it.
Downside is the enormous amount of rinsing it needs.

It is also highly irritant and will dis.solve your clothes

There are similar products used in the dairy industry for decontaminating (cleaning/sanitising) milk tanks. They are acidified iodophor products which when used at a certain concentration do both jobs and they're no rinse.

But yes, beer line cleaner will do it, on E-bay quite cheap IIRC.

Thanks for your replies guys.
I can get 5 litres of beer line cleaner for £6.00 incl vat so its loads cheaper than Bruclean.
Only thing was I dont want to spoil any brews just for the sake of a few £££

I'd consider buying a non rinse sanitizer. You'll soon get bored of uber rinseing your beer line cleaner out over and over again. also its not very ecologically friendly tipping bleach down the drain for every brew.
