My ale is reaching the end of primary fermentation and I have another kit I'd like to get going on straight away, but I have no yeast. I'm a way away from the nearest HBS, so if I use a new packet of yeast it's going to be a while before I can get some.
It's my understanding that yeast 'feeds' as it eats the sugar, so can I just scoop a dollop of the settled yeast from the old batch and introduce it to the new? If I can, how much do you suggest?
