I am about to try and make another turbo cider but with honey, in a small 5l water bottle.

I am sure yous have been asked this before but i couldnt find it, Do I need to use an airlock or can I just leave the lid on loose? Will this affect the flavour?

A loosened cap may do the trick ... but ...

... if the brew gets really active and starts overflowing it will push the cap off and leave the contents exposed to the air; which is why I always use an air-lock.

On the subject of overflows, it also makes sense to sit the DJ in a bowl until it settles down to a steady fermentation.
