Hello

This is my first post and I am absolutely new to this.
I have followed a general recipe for a kiwi wine using fruit and put into a bucket (with a hole ready for an airlock).

After adding the yeast and a few other bits my major question is do I need an airlock before I transfer to a demijohn in about 5 to 7 days?

I have read in some places it is essential and others say it hinders productions so I am confused.

When I transfer over I will be using an airlock in the demijohn with a bung.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Welcome to the forum.

If its fermenting you should use an airlock, members with no hole in the FV lid often just lay the lid on top of the FV which allows the CO2 to escape.
