ok first thigs first...

i couldnt get a rubber bung to fit the bottle ...

and i dont wont to put a hole in the cap but i do wont to make it in to a dj ...

so i got a set of stoppers/bungs from ebay they are 20mm ones ...
if your going to look for them on ebay heres what to put in the search bar ...

(salt and pepper pot stoppers cruet set bugs)...
ok so then i got my spade type drill bit a half inch one ...

drilled the hole in each bung/stopper ...
then i cut the seat of the bung to fit the inside of the bung ...
then put them together and popped in my air lock..

job done ... .

i no its only a 2 litre bottle but im very happy with it ...
iv also kept the screw cap to screw on after fermentation is complete.. :D .

heres the pics ...

Nice little how to mick worth bookmarking.

Here's a link to Ebay with a wide selection of sizes of Bung.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4mm-Solid...946&pid=100011&prg=1005&rk=2&sd=281051409931&

Sorry the link is so long, not figured out how to submit short links.

thanks bud ..

i did look at that guys site but i couldnt see a 20mm with a hole in ....
so that ment i had to do the hole myself...

and it is easyer to put a hole in the ones i found ...

so thats why i got the ones i did...

i must admit i would prefer the rubber ones... .

but its done now ... :D .

regards mick... :hat: .

Completely off topic but where did you get the airlocks ?
They look to be much better than the ones that appear to be designed with the specific intention of making them impossible to clean.

Mick has left the forum, so don't expect a reply from him. They look like standard HBS plastic ones. The 2 part are easier to clean. Even easier are the 3 part ones, but they only seem to be available in USA.

Cheers.
I actually went off and did an image search. Turns out they're available from AoB.

with regard to drilling and grommeting

with my 5 litre PET bottle conversions
I heat up a screw with a lighter
and push it through the plastic lid
this makes a hole and makes the plastic soft
then quickly push in the airlock before the plastic cools
it makes a nice tight fitting

I think it would work for these plastic caps :thumb:
