Can anyone recommend one?
I would like to keep it reasonably cheap but I also want something suited to brewing, any ideas?

I think those cheapo chinese made PH meters are a bit of a lottery. They have them on both Amazon and Ebay. If you read the reviews you get everything from, 'I used it once and it packed up' to 'I've been using mine for months and it's working well'

You do want one that's cheap though, because you'll probably be buying it again within a couple of years. The adverts don't mention it usually, but the probe does deteriorate: I saw somewhere to treat them like batteries, they eventually use up whatever it is that makes them work.

But you won't want to go back to paper strips after using one.

Anyone any experience of the "lifetime"?
