no, keep dropping them on hard surfaces. Perhaps I am 'testing' too much. :drink:

After the first time I broke one, I always keep it in my 100 ml plastic measure glass when brewing. And always hold it at the top, never in the middle or at the bottom.

I think you need a rubber floor or a rubber hydrometer :doh:

NOw there is an idea. Rubber cased hydrometers? I wonder why not? Hygiene? Surface area? Glass best against the liquid? :whistle:

After getting through a few in a similar way myself i remembered that back in the 80s i had a boots plastic one. Did some searching on ebay and found one, :mrgreen: no more broken glass.

there is one on the bay right now.........

I have a plastic spare..long time since I broke a glass one....now watch.
Did once (on my first ever beer ) put the thermometer in a little early and blew the end off. Had to bin the batch. Very annoying.
