This could turn out to be a very addictive hobby indeed.

I bottled up my first foray in to beer brewing yesterday (I'm going to ignore an experiment with a Boots kit several decades ago  ) and I'm really excited about how it tasted after just the initial fermentation. I used light spray malt instead of sugar for the initial fermentation and I batch primed the beer with demerara sugar before bottling. I'm hoping that this will taste excellent by Christmas when we plan to open it.

Since this worked so well, or I certainly hope it did, I'm going to start one of Munton's two can kits - the old English bitter. If all goes well this should be drinkable by New Year, although I will try to keep some bottles of both for 6 months to see how much the flavour develops.
