I recently got my old mans record player down from his attic and brought it back to mine. If any one else has got a record player and some vinyl porn please feel free to post a picture of it. I found loads of elvis and a Michael jackson lp from 1982 thriller hahahaahaha.

The actual player with thriller in it:

The sonics - here are the sonics:

I also habe now thats what i call music 1-16 hahahaha Anbd some random 7" singles.

Well, when CD came in I cried . . . . Then I went out and bought one of these

Armed with the Basik and K5 MM cartridge, costing a cool £900 . . . in 1985!!

Still going strong now, and playing all my vinyl . . . digital don't come close . . . I'm actually thinking about upgrading to the latest spec, but that would more than double the original cost :hmm: :hmm:

Music is a sine wave people . . . analogue all the way :thumb:

I have a few record decks, mainly for mixing, but I've also got my folks old 70s style Philips one, it's a beast.

I the think the early Now compilations are worth a few quid 'now' though! :thumb:

I have a Rega Planar 3 with glass platter.
I only got it back out recently after buying a Denon amp at a car boot for £1

Proud owner of over 600 vinyl albums but at the moment nothing to play them on  will rectify that in the near future, don't tell the wife, she likes surprises.

My dad has a few vinyls that I'm going to 'borrow' when I can afford something to play them on.

He has ones from ELO to T-Rex and its his fault I got in to the sex pistols - never mind the b*****ks album.

I have a ProJekt turntable in my folks' loft along with an awesome collection of mostly first release 70's prog rock LPs. \m/

Oh yes, there's even Bachman Turner Overdrive in there!!

Two Gemini PT2100s plus one PT2400 for spares. They're basically 'Happy Shopper' 1210s & I use 'em for gigging. Got a sh*tload of vinyl - mostly Soul, Funk, Reggae, Latin, Rhythm & Blues & Punk with the obligatory '60s stuff like Floyd, Jimi, Creedence etc. I'd love an expensive deck but most of my cash goes on records - I'm a total addict! That's why I'm here. Redirecting the money I save on not buying shop bought booze straight into the record shops. That's the problem. One likes to drink & when one drinks one needs entertainment doesn't one? Ain't precious niether... Can't stand collectors who just mothball tunes - they're for playing not looking at ffs!

Boss at work plays vinyl, he says cd's are **** and don't compare!!
In his spare time he refurbishes Garrard 301's, can't believe how much they sell for..

I can, the Garrard was a complete classic when it came out, and even after 50 years, will still produce tone to die for. :thumb:

I hadn't quite realised what the top tpec Upgrade on the Linn costs  . . I may just have to content myself with a Cirkus upgrade :( :(

Just yesterday I was putting a batch of beer out for storage in my cabin and I looked at my collection of Bob Dylan records that is taking up valuable space in one of my cupboards. Should I just bite the bullet and throw them in the bin to make room for beer?

I know they will never get played again, but it's just so difficult to make the decision.

Many years ago I used to do consultancy work for Roksan and would sometimes tinker with their range of turntables - prices of which always surprised me  I do have some vinyl somewhere but would be hard pressed to locate it now...

What amazes me is that tone arms can be over a £1000.

AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH !!! At the very least stick em on Ebay or even freecycle! It breaks my heart to see vinyl junked

Oh yes, I have a turntable.
I quite often spent a couple of hours in this little second hand music store by the bus station on a saturday morning, gotten some bargains on ebay as well - a few first pressings worth hundreds for a few quid.

Used to have vinyl nights at mine, me and a couple of mates who also love the snap crackle and pop, bring some records, bring some beer. Great nights.

I bought a pair of Soundlabs in 1998 when I was at uni, only got rid of them last year. I loved them because they made you so much tighter when you mixed on a decent set of decks. If you can mix on Soundlabs you can mix on anything!!!

I finally took the step into adulthood by making the symbolic gesture of dumping them, which said I won't return to club DJing and all night parties. In reality I hadn't been at such a party for years and would probably end up asleep in the corner but holding onto the decks seemed to be a link to the past, kind of like saying I could go back if I want.

I love vinyl though, and always will. I have boxes and boxes in the attic which will probably never see the light of day again (they're all techno and breakbeat which I can't listen to now without wanting to go out clubbing and hang out with a load of kids half my age :( ), but I can't bear to get rid of them.

They wouldn't all be half your age if you were into psytrance. Most of the psytrancers I know are 30s-50s which just goes to show it's not always the whippersnappers who are the cool ones :nono: Still, you can't beat a couple of hours liquidising your brain with some Venetian Snares

Reminds me of my old pair of belt driven Sherwoods i bought years ago. Next to useless for mixing on. I eventually upgraded to a set of Citronic PD-2's. I wanted a set of 1210's but couldn't afford them.

Sadly i got rid of all my vinyls. I didn't really appreciate the value of them at the time. The only ones i kept was a Wurzels 45 and some Regal Zonophone 78's.

I've had a few turntables along the way. Started off with a cheapo sharp midi system, but then got my first proper turntable when I was 15 - a Rega Planar 2.

Since then I've had a Roksan Radius V, Pioneer PL12d (really nice deck available for peanuts these days), a Linn LP12 with Ittok, and finally my current, a Technics SL1210 with a Denon 110 cartridge.

I've also got an old Garrard SP25/IV which I keep for 78s and a Dual 505/2 in the loft just in case the 1210 has a paddy.

In case you were wondering, the expensive decks got sold due to cash constraints. The LP12 was looovely...

I fully agree - Vinyl is so much more natural sounding...BUT only if the original source was analogue too.

I recently did a test between a few Beatles albums - my mum's original 1965 Rubber Soul, a new copy of the 2009 remaster on vinyl, and a lossless rip of the 2009 remaster CD.

No contest. Even though my mum's copy was well worn, the feeling of a live performance and realism just couldn't be matched by the modern copies. In fact, the vinyl remaster and CD rip were remarkably similar in sound.

So there's your answer. Get yourself a PL-12d for £20 and then get down to your local boot sale and get some toe-tapping bargains!
