ok iv done another wilko newkie brown today...
but a bit different ...

this time i used a 500g bag of medium spay malt and a goldings hop .pellet tea bag ...
and 600g of white sugar and 100g of brewing sugar...
long story ...dont ask..

ok first i sanitised every thing ...
and added the wilkos kit to a pan of very hot water for fifteen mins...
then i put the goldings tea bag in a mug and filled it up with boiling water gave it a good stir then left it in there for ten mins...

then i put 2 ltrs of boiling water in the fv then added the sugar and the spray malt ...
i gave this all a dam good wisking for ten mins...

then i opened the wilkos kit and added that to the fv and washed it out into the fv with yet more boiling water ...
and yes another dam good stir/whisk for another 5 mins ...
it was all well mixed so i then added the goldings tea and the bag as it has to stay in the fv till fermentation is finished ..

so then i topped it up to 23ls with cold water from a hight of 4 feet to get plenty of oxygen in the wart ...
i then took the temp it was 21c so i done my first reading it came out at 1.040...

so i pitched the yeast and gave it a stir some dont but i do...

i put on the lid and put in the air lock then filled it with my vodka as i always do...
so job done .... :D ...

heres some pics ...

Looks good :thumb: I made this about 10 days ago with 1kg brewing sugar and 500g of medium spray malt. Tried a sample yesterday and quite impressed, will bottle at the weekend :D Will you be using the same amount of priming sugar?

Just put this in my beer sphere plain kit, but have swapped out the tap and for a bung and air valve be interested to see what this kit is like and then may have have to tweak as you have done but glad to see someone else has picked it.

Well Mick, was the 1st couple of pics focused as you saw things, then it all came together, then everything started spinning... :D Oh, PS you missed a bit in the tin :D .

Hope it turns out good though, after doing a Festival kit I'm really into the hopping business, it adds some great flavours. Might invest in some for my next one whatever it may be...

yes guilty as charged ... :D .

i need glasses for close up things...
and no i didnt have them with me i left them up in my bedroom ...

and i use my phone to take my pics but the pics are small on there ...

so yes it did look ok to me till it was put on the computer
but by then it was to late it was all done  ...

never mind lol...
as for the hop pellet tea bag...
i havent used them before so i hope i like what they do to a brew .. ;) .

Just added a hop tea bag yesterday and mines slowed right down on co2 production, think I'm going to use golden syrup as a primer for second fermentation treacle sounds like a good call though sadly when I added the hops there was a rather funky smell so I hope I've sanitised enough.

Let me know how it goes!

ok so 2day i syphoned my brew in to fv number 2 i took out the hop tea bag and put that in as well...

i took a hydrometer reading and it was 1.010 so coming down nicely... :thumb: .
also i changed the water in my bucket as it had got warm ...

after i took the reading i drank the sample...

and have to say its nothing like my first sweet newkie brown ...
so the changes i made have made a big difference to the taste ...
cant wait to try this one when its finished...

dont get me wrong i love the first one but this is even better ... :thumb:

ok so i bottled this today ...
as usual sanitised everything and used 109g of brewing sugar to batch prime it...
so i put the sugar in with a half pint of boiling water waited till it had disolved then put it into my bottling bucket ...
and then syphoned the newkie on top of it ...
when it was all in there i then added my little bottler and got on with it...

heres the pics .. :) .
