In the summer I got some apple juice and was doing a 1 gallon cider with Aldi value apple juice and it must have had an infection as it stunk like vomit and cheese. I was sure to clean and sterilise all my gear as always and thought it maybe came down to the apple juice?

You can get smells while fermenting if the yeast does the have enough nutrient, did it have any other signs it had gone bad.
