Oh this is the future of brewing in my house. I popped home for an hour and got the mash on ready for a boil this evening. Brewing on work time!

All day mash, 90 min boil

4kg motter
300g crystal

40g wiilamette 60mins
20g 15 mins
Protafloc fold 15 mins
20g 5 mins
20g 0 mins

Cube ASAP (hope the hop filter behaves this time)

Yeast SO5

So is that 23l? Post your OG. If your getting the same sort of mash efficiency as I got in my first BIAB you would get 1039.5. I loved the BIAB experience and expect to be doing this for a long time. I used a nylon voile over my FV to filter the hops. I also caught some of the break material but the wort was a bit murky at first. Not tried willamette yet. I'll watch your thread. :thumb:

Excellent. That looks like a better than 80% mash efficiency. I'm sure that is achievable with BIAB since I "popped my cherry" at 77%. I've been using (OG-1000)*100/(295*grain weight/brew length) to get % efficiency.I don't know if this is considered accurate.

There's some pics of a lovely evening boiling! There's a lull in activity as I just topped up from the sparge. That little electrim does a great job and will deserve it's retirement when I replace it with a 50L shiny. The big relief is that the hop filter is doing it's job again after a good blast with the steam cleaner.

If you use voile like you say it will keep the hops contained but you lose the benefit of the hop filter. What happens is the hops suck around the filter and then trap the hot break material, leading to crystal clear wort coming out of your tap. You just need to maintain it properly as I discovered last weekend.
