So stovetop BIAB batch number 8 is on the boil.

Based on Clibits IRA recipe, the grain bill is:

1.600 kg Maris Otter Malt (74.25%)
0.230 kg Wheat Malt (10.67%)
0.100 kg Crystal 120 (4.64%)
0.100 kg Crystal 40 (4.64%)
0.100 kg Crystal Rye (4.64%)
0.025 kg Roasted Barley (1.16%)

I went with 8 L for initial mash and 6L (and a bit for temp adjustment), mashed in at 66, stirred at 30 mins, re-covered with towels and was still 65-66 after another 30
Mins.

Dunk sparked in a fermentation bin, brought to boil and first lot of hops are in and boiling.

60 mins
15g Chinook leaf13.4% AA

5 mins
10g Citra pellets 12% AA
5g Cascade leaf 7% AA

Flameout
10g Cascade leaf 7% AA

I still haven't got any brewing software, so I'm just going on gut feel and 'Engineering Assumption' [emoji12]

So, after a week in my brew fridge it's well on the way, so I transferred it off the train into a clean fermenter.
When I transfer to the FV post cooling, I catch the hops is a sieve, but still end up with a lot of trub.

Get making a hop spider. Nylon bags are brilliant at reducing hop sediment.

Eventually got round to dry hopping this morning - I meant to add the dry hops on Tuesday and bottle it today, but life's getting in the way!
10g Chinook
10g Cascade

Smelling fantastic this evening - will get it bottles during the week.

Planning a Black IPA tomorrow!

So left this with the dry hops in for waaaay too long (10 days) and when so lifted the lid of FV I got a real solvent kind of smell?!

I drew off a sample and it tasted OK, so I primed and bottled on Monday night.

Will see how it turns out!

10 days is fine, as long as the fv is below 20C or so. Some breweries dry hop for 14 days, and with a lot more hops that this!
