I have two hydrometers, the cheap beer & wine ones by Stevenson & Reeves.
I have come to the conclusion that they are about as accurate as Alemans chimpanzee balancing on a rock with a stick
One is reading at least 3 points short and the other 4
Great; I'm rousing the hell out of my forum Christmas brew to get it from 1020 down to 1015 or 1016, while all the while it is probably there or thereabouts.

So, who makes good hydrometers with a scale of say 1000 to 1060?
I found quite a few sites last night on my initial trawl, but none really has the range I want......all too narrow.
I expect this is going to cost me again

Thanks in advance :)

You can't really meet that range in a single hydrometer.

I have a 1.0000 to 1.0500 hydrometer that I got from Hamstead homebrew, for a tenner, and it does the job fine.

They do three 1.050 to 1.100, 1.000 to 1.050 and Mine (1.000 to 1.050)

Alternatively a Refractometer and a good piece of brewing softawre is a good alternative . . . I use both however

The one you have there Aleman looks as though it will do the job admirably......and it's about £20-£30 less than I expected to pay

I've got a refractometer - I use it to check my gravity as I'm nearing the end of the boil.

Thanks for your help Aleman :D
