Hi,

I've been brewing for just over 2 years, mostly using kits. Got my first kit, fermenting bucket et al for my 50th and, remembering my old mans home brews, was a little apprehensive. Was very pleasantly surprised with how far kits have improved over the years.

I continue to use kits but with amendments such as substituting honey for the sugar to be added or making a "dunkle" by adding a can of dark malt concentrate to a standard larger kit instead of, again, the sugar. Just started 5 gallon of yarrow mead as an experiment and I've some malt concentrate standing by to make a yarrow ale. Don't think I'm going to go full grain as the kits and malt extracts are of such good quality compared to what was available to my father 30 years since.
