From the Fermentis PDF :-

Warning: sometimes it may be necessary
to sparge one more time, to obtain the
final volume of wort: 1 Kg (1lb)
of spent grains retains
0.90L (0.108 gal) of wort.

Tut tut, since when did 1Kg = 1Lb? I'm pretty sure that my 1Kg bag of sugar = 2.2Lbs!

Interesting read though.

No, you're misreading it (admittedly it is not clear)...

What they are trying to say is:

1 kg of spent grains retains 0.90L of wort

which is the same as saying:

1 lb of spent grains retains 0.108 gal of wort

where they are using 3.79 litres per gallon (i.e. not imperial gallon). :thumb:
