first extract brew, with steeping grains.

question, i have a recipe which adds a bunch of hops at flameout. i intend to sieve wort into FV. will the final hop addition have enough time in the wort or should they be left in for fermentation, ie dont sieve/filter out?

ive got about an hour to decide.

Common practice is at the end of the boil to cool the wort to around 80℃ then add the flame out hops, leave them to steep for 20-30 mins then continue cooling.

AS S.S said above. I have also slung em in straight after taking off the heat and cooling and things have turned out fine!

Just to be awkward, I'd put them in at 0 then start chilling the wort straight away and filter out as you transfer the wort to the FV. My thinking is that while the steeping described above is a great technique it probably isn't what the recipe creator had in mind.

As you can see there are various ways of doing it :D
Any of the above will work fine.

ok thanks chaps. ive lobbed the flamout hops in and bunged the pot straight into an iced water bath.

ill filter through muslin for the transfer.
cheers
