I've got a packet of nottingham yeast and on the back it gives a pitching rate of one gram per litre, up until I read the back I assumed that one packet would be enough for 23litres but now not so sure. The beer I am making is probably going to have an OG of 1.045 Can any notty users out there let me know how much they usually pitch.

Thanks

Notty pitching rates are well high in my opinion, I pitch 11g for anything from 19-28 ltr. If I had it in loose conatiners I would pitch less to be honest.

I believe it depends on how old the yeast is (2 years before expiry date stamped on the sachet for Notts, 3 years for Windsor according to an email I got from them) and how its been stored (in fridge versus room temp).

Check a yeast calc for estimates eg mrmalty.com or your favourite brew software.
