After reading multiple threads re mini kegs, I thought I'd give them a try.
Being a tight-arsed Jock, there was no way I was paying full price for an empty keg. Was visiting Fyne Ales in Argyll and saw that they were selling of mini kegs full of beer almost at expiry date for £9 so jumped at the chance to get "free" beer too.
Anyway brewed a Citra Pale Ale (extract recipe as per GH's book). Kegged on 3 March with 130g of sugar to prime. Now according to most posts which I had read this was a little on the high side but thought I'd give it a go as experiment.
Warm conditioned for 3 weeks then moved outside to the shed.
Last night brought inside and opened.
It was beautifully carbonated and (if I say so myself) tasted great.
Am now a mini keg convert.
Just need to keep my eyes open for more "special" offers to collect kegs
