Here's what I did (eventually) hope it's ok and I'm not gonna poison anyone. 
-Rinsed my keg with just warm water
-boiled kettle and poured it all in keg
-chucked a scoop of Oxy clean stuff in
-shook the hell out of it for a few minutes
-left it a few minutes (didn't fancy pumping boiling water through my pipes and tap)
-put some gas in
-pulled it all through my lines and taps
-rinsed with warm water .. (twice) (also pulled through lines both times)
- stuck in 5L of cold water
-chucked in a milton tablet
- left a few minutes
-shook the hell out if it again
-connected co2
-pumped it through my taps until empty
-filled up empty keg with cold water and ice
-blasted it with about 30psi CO2 and shook it for a few minutes
-enjoyed cold soda water from my new kegerator
I have a banging headache now though so hoping that's my man flu and not me somehow poisoning myself by getting something awfully wrong.. (I've had a few glasses of my soda water.)
