ow do,

i've accumulated a lot of screwtop wine bottles and was wondering if these would be suitable to brew beer in or will they not withstand the pressure?

anyone tried this?

Sorry, it's a big no-no. The wine bottles are not designed to take the pressure that builds up inside a bottle of beer.

I have sourced all my bottles from the local pub,I've found the Magners cider bottles are perfect and the standard crown capper works really well with very little fiddling! Most pubs will let you take the emptys as long as you are prepared to do a bit of skipdiving, best of all, they are free and an endless supply!

But you can bottle wine in them and use a cork!
If you haven't done so already check out the wurzels recipe on here - just sampled my first one at the weekend and it's all good:)
