Check your settings under My Account / Edit Forum Options.

You can choose whether or not you wish to receive PMs, emails, notifications etc.

Yes, I've had several PMs to and from me that have either not arrived (I know they were sent as it is a local friend), or I've sent and had no reply for no reason.
