I bought a bottle of this on a whim at an xmas market and it has to be up there with one of the best golden coloured ales I've ever had! A very nice balanced taste of malt and hops. Nothing is overpowering, yet it is 5.6% and rich but not in a sickly way. I was lucky enough to have been bought a 3 bottle presentation pack from them too. All nice but the Friday gold stood out. For me it almost has that smoothness of a cask ale like John Smiths or Hobgoblin Gold too, which makes it go down far too easily. I cannot wait to find a pub that has this on tap to compare. Great with a hot curry and fantastic with fish and chips too
The Rye Ale is a new taste for me too, and very quaffable but there are other Rye Ales out there so I can't really give a review on that yet
