Convert Youngs CO2 valve to S30?

I had no problem performing the conversion. Is the pin piece just a little stiff? Have you tried a little hot water to "flush" the valve in case it's stuck or dirty?
If the only alternative is to buy a new cap (a tenner, at least), first try a Yorkshire spanner - brute force! If something breaks, you have nothing to lose. If it shifts the pin, you've saved the cost of the new cap.
 
Went for brute force and found that in these designs, there's no flippable centre piece, the piercing pin can just be pulled out. It's just over an inch long and I had to use mole-grips to get a decent grip but now I have a S30 compatible valve.
