Hello all. Total novice speaking...a friend and I want to brew some Meade..so we've put the honey and water in a plastic carboy, added the yeast and nutrients and sealed with an airlock...4 days later and no bubbles. We put 3 five metre rolls of bubble wrap and an old blanket around the carboy and keeling it in the corner of the room, away from windows and radiators...any ideas as to WHY this isn't working? Thanks!

Using Youngs nutrients and vin classe yeast, following instructions on the packets. What's the best way to test the temperature except buying a thermometer I suppose..?

You can get £1 stick on lcd themometers on ebay and wilkos etc. They arent very clear (you have to look closely) but they show you the temp!
