6 small lemons
1kg ginger root
1kg sugar
boil for 30 mins
strain add jucie to fv
temp 23c after top up to 20 ltrs


bakers yeast( 3 table spoons) mixed with sugar and water for 2 hours
then added to fv
yeast nutrent 1 teaspoon full
givin a right good shake for 15 mins then
air lock on and withing 3 hours going made wif bubbles
smells luverly
will now take random samples in a few days to see when time to stop
and settle sg 1040

new to all this but use the forum for ideas and help

ps do you think i should increase the sg
 
its almost done think maby i would add more ginger also have just added some sweetners to it next few days will till still bubbling aye abv is at 4.9% so will try again tommorow . bottles arrive monday so looks like a monday tues bottle job . i have a tester in a bottle at the mo to gass up and then cool down to see what its like very hard to tell with warm drinks i think :cheers:
 
night before bottling a think the gb could do with some limes so added 3 squeezed and threw in the lumps and let them sit for 24 hours b4 bottling ( did taste test with ginger beer bough from shops and i can defo taste limes )
 
This sounds great and I am keen to try ginger beer in the future. Is baker's yeast okay? I always thought it was a golden rule to avoid baker's yeast for brew.

The addition of lime sounds yummy! Let us know how it tastes!
