PC (political correctness) now prooves to be a PITA and no disrespect meant to anyone. When a binman was a binman and not a cleansing technician and a manhole was a manhole not a human access tunnel. My initial job was a maintenance technician but recently had changed to engineering specialist but with no given reason.Have any of you had something similar happen?

The one at ours was known as "dickhead extraordinaire". He's now known as "unemployed".

I applied for the team leader job...didn't get it although after "identifying my weak points" and "going on the suggested course" I still didn't get the job ...3 times! They gave the jobs to serial **** kissers and people thicker than me! You should see the faces on them...scapegoats and whipping boys and doing it for little extra is true. Glad I stayed put. A dear friend since departed said to me.."you're not paid to think..just to do".

My shortest ever interview:

Interviewer:
"Good morning. Did have a good journey and did you see the model of the Plant in the foyer?"

Me:
"Yes. Great trip down and the new Plant looks really interesting."

Interviewer
"Now, you don't seem to have the qualifications to do the job you have applied for."
(I had been doing a similar job with another company for four years!)

Me after a moment to think it over:
"You've dragged me one hundred and thirty miles on my day off to interview me for a job that you don't think I have the qualifications to do? You are out of your mind. Give me my expenses I'm going home."

End of interview. :thumb:

The company concerned offered the job to one of my Operators who had HND qualifications.

He turned them down ... :thumb:

... and I worked on the Plant as a Consultant about 25 years later!

Happy Days! :thumb: :thumb:

They asked me why I wanted to progress..I said to get more money, end of! I also pointed out that it's the ONLY reason we are all working and ANYONE who says anything different must be delusional...they were horrified as they would probably set their heads on fire if the company told them to! Yes men..

I once watched a team leader measuring a wall, looking in a supplies catalogue, scratching his head, measuring again...it went on for a while so I asked him what he was doing. He said ordering some racking for the wall space, I asked was there a problem he said he couldn't work it out...just took the tape, measured the area...12 ft ,looked in the catalogue, racking in 4 ft sections...there i said you need 3 of these...his reply..yeah but they won't fit exactly as there are only 11 inches in a foot!
Very well thought of...especially for cutting the mds lawn and hedges...

I had a conversation with my factory manager about regrading for me and a colleague in which he said he was not interested in anyone who was motivated by money. I told him that next time my mortgage and bills were due I would simply tell them I had no money but was very happy at my job, would that be OK.
He was not impressed and no rise!
