Hi all,

I am looking for some advice on passivating my new stainless fv.

Does anyone know the correct volumes required for the starsan and water? Do I fill right to the top of the fermenter?, Or just add a 24L mix? Or fill half way and keep moving the mix around the edges of the fv to keep it all wetted?

The manual states 1oz starsan per gallon. I presume thats a US gallon (3.8l is it?). Is 1oz 30ml? (Just going on side of starsan container, one side shows oz the ml).

So if I did a mix of 24L water to 190ml of starsan would that be right?

I presume that passivation requires a stronger solution mix. What do I do with the mix once complete? Its a lot of stuff to dump to drain.

Also, the temperature should be between 21 - 27C. Is this important?

Cheers in advance

Thats what I thought. In the SS Brewtech literature it says 1 oz (isn't that 30ml??) per 1 gallon (US I presume - 3.8L)
Isn't that a bit much? Very strong mixture

Yes but in the article I linked it says, " Another agent is a high concentration of Star-San sanitizer, which is acid based"

So it seems correct
