Hi.. I'm Jon from Burntwood near Lichfield England..
New to this but got a good idea what i'm up to.

First ever Brew - Brewing 32 pints of Woodforde's ADMIRAL'S Ale..

Day 1 12 hours in :) (hidden in the livingroom)
Can I assume that the Fermenting tub with a froth on top and wort temp of 71 that all is going to plan?

cheers
JOn

Yes, that's fine.
I /think/ that's pretty much at the top end of the temperature range you want, but I mainly do wine and I'm more used to Celsius these days.

Why is it you find out so much more 'once' you have your wort sitting there!
Just found out you take your hydrometer reading - 'before' - yeast..
Also - 'rehydrating your yeast' - instead of sprinkling..
cheers
Jon

yeah i had a lttle chuckle at this.

I remember when i first started, not very long ago, thinking the same thing. I'd read a couple of books on homebrewing and spent some time skimming the forums. Then when i started posting on here and actually doing homebrew i realised i knew squat. Still don't know much more, but i'm learning a little each day. :thumb:

There's plenty of good advice on this forum.

Don't forget to read viewtopic.php?f=30&t=24822

Hello and welcome

I am still new to brewing so it will be interesting to follow your progress.

Welcome to the forum

71ºF is about 21.5ºc so just a touch high but its your first brew so I would just leave it be. 18-20ºc is ideal (or 64.5-68ºF) for your next brew :thumb:

I gave it a small stir this morning as I wanted to make sure the sprinkled yeast was all in.. (12hrs in)
24hrs now and bubbling away nicely..
Its in the living room so fairly warm in here..
Should i move it under the stairs - cooler - or leave it be?
Thanx for the welcome all !

:hat:

You can move it under the stairs but you don't want it to go below 18c. If not, leave its where it is, it will be drinkable.

Temperature control is most important in the first few days, the yeasties don't like temperature fluctuations. :thumb:
