OK, so after my disaster at the weekend I'm considering a new tap for my (plastic bucket) boiler.

I'm quite tempted by a full bore ball valve with lever from here
Linked onto the boiler with a "Straight Adaptor Extended Thread" from here
And finished with a "Brass Screwed Tail Adaptor" from here

A 15mm compression joint on the inside would be nice, because it's connect easily to my hop strainer.

Any suggestions? :hmm: :wha:

I use something similar to this

They only have to be tightened onto the nipple hand tight to get a seal and the female 1/2" has a shallow thread so not a lot of nipple is needed. As for a olive compression fitting directly on the back of the tap nipple, as don't take too kindly to being undone very often and they require quite a lot of force to seal.

Another option would be one of these but they need a lot of thread on the tap nipple to seal.

Both are available from BES.
