Got a brewday in this morning. Pretty uneventful as far as brewdays go. I had to make a last minutes substitution on bittering hops. I was going to use Target but the ones I had were several years old and smelled a bit "off." So I went with First Gold instead. Hit 1.044 for an OG.

Rainy crappy day:

Nice one Barry :thumb: , First Gold and Styrians are a good combination. What yeast are you using?

Nice looking Beer, takes me back to my youth drinking it at university, along with flowers IPA and Courage Directors.

I hope it works out good for you. :thumb:

Flowers and Directors are all similar beers if you look at the grain bill and hopping and CAstle eden has a very similar hopping as well :hmm: :hmm:

Which goes to show that most beers are a variation of a theme.

I've noticed that with most of the recipes in wheeler's book. Not much variation at all. I'm assuming the yeast and brewing process for each brewery must be where the "magic" lies. ;-)
