I've scrapped the idea of a gas burner as I don't really have anywhere suitable to use it.

So, thinking of alternatives, has anyone used/got the Brewferm boiler above? I like the fact that it's simpler than the Grainfather, but it's still fairly pricey and only about £120 cheaper.

What is putting me off about the GF (price aside) is that there seems to be more parts for the wort to pass through, so more cleaning and more parts to potentially go wrong, though all reviews seem to be very good. I also already have an immersion chiller which I could use.

I think if the price difference was £200, then it would be a no brainer, but as it is, I am in two minds - I like the simplicity of the Brewferm, but might kick myself for not spending that little bit more. I haven't found any reviews online, but Brewferm seem to be a fairly well established brand.

Any thoughts/opinions/advice is most welcome.

That was one of my concerns with it, so thanks. I can't find any reviews of the brewferm one, which I suppose tells you something. I also don't like the choice of either buying a separate pump or manually recirculating the wort during the mash, so won't bother I don't think.

The question is, can I justify £550 on brewing kit?

Hops is the question not can you justify 550 to your wife  , the Grainfather does look like Brew Porn but im a burner and pan man myself

To be honest Steve, I'd rather have a shiny pot and burner, but don't have anywhere out back that offers shelter. Also, it's a bit cheaper investment.

I'd have to attempt to explain the GF away, knowing the money would be better spent elsewhere!

I am a simple BIAB brewer, and I was also interested in the Brewferm product. What would be the advantage of Grainfather for me? I have never used a pump in my life, can Grainfather be used without pump?

It has the pump to recirculate during the mash I think? I guess to improve efficiency. I don't think the Brewferm one is worth the money to be honest and I've decided I don't want everything done for me by the Grain Father.

Think I'll save my money and get something like this (link below). If it's not very efficient, i'll just use more grain!
