So how do you get the richness of a stout with an SRM of 7-9? Well lets give this a shot. Here is a first go at a recipe.



Fermentable Amount Use PPG Color
Bohemian Pilsner (DE) 3.2 kg 56 % Mash 38 1 °L
Cara Malt (UK) 680 g 11 % Mash 35 17 °L
Maris Otter Pale (UK) 450 g 7 % Mash 38 3 °L
Biscuit (BE) 230 g 4 % Mash 35 23 °L
Flaked Oats 900 g 15 % Boil 33 2 °L
Lactose (Milk Sugar) 230.0 g 4 % Boil 41 1 °L

Hop Amount Time Use Form AA
Magnum (DE) 20 g 60 min Boil Pellet 14.7%
Crystal (US) 28 g 15 min Boil Pellet 4.5%
East Kent Golding (UK) 28 g 15 min Boil Pellet 5.0%
Crystal (US) 28 g 0 min Boil Pellet 4.5%
East Kent Golding (UK) 28 g 0 min Boil Pellet 5.0%

Brewed a slightly different version this weekend, 11.5g at 1.065 with 2 separate yeast.
