Does anyone know how I can work out how much lactose to add after fermentation to reach my desired fg?
Basically I want to back-sweeten 8 litres of beer from 1.010 to around 1.017 or so. Any help would be much appreciated.

No worries, just popped it Into beer alchemy on the iphone, 200g of lactose will provide 7 gravity points to 8litres of water / wort

Antwhere between 150g and 300g is about right. Its very much down to trial and error. Don't forget Lactose, being Lactose has a very milky taste and is not suited to some beers. I find it works best in darker, low hopped beers, not in Pale Ales, but its up to you.

Ok so I'll maybe go for about 100-150g then, I don't want to add any flavours.
I had a bit of trouble with mash temperature so my Old Ale finished lower than expected. I just want to add a little sweetness and body.
