Alternatively you could buy a Carbonation cap (Gas in)
(theses fit on a standard PET Bottle)

The Aussies are using car Tyre valves, you could use a S30 valve but, these water kegs already have pressure release valve installed on the other post, so the choice is yours.

Just checked the 5ltr hoselock one I have and its good for up to 45psi. Wouldn't use it though as it had weedol in it for the last few years

NICE!

Just had a quick look on ebay. Theres are bunch of 8l ones for about a tenner.

Going to have to sign up to the aussie site to get access to those PDFs.

2 things though, the ones i've looked at on ebay dont give a psi rating. And how do you know if the plastic is going to be food grade?

Looks like an awesome idea. Love the thought of having some easy to transport 8l kegs. The half size cornys are rediculous expensive!

You can get the containers from 3lt -20lt.

I've already started to source the parts.... hoping to do it for under £20.

Water sprayer 8LT - 8.50
S30 valve - 7.50
JG push-fit bulkhead 8mm - 1.50
Washes/pipes/tap - £5

Those are ebay price... local shops will or maybe cheaper.

If new how to add the attachments i would upload the PDFs (mod can you help!)

PS: The containers are food grade but is recommended to check first, as different manufactures may use different materials.

If you take the time to read the Aussie thread some have questioned that point, with answer being they are HDPE (ones they used in Aussie that is....) the same plastics used in your fermenting bucket.

I've been considering buying cornies for a while and wonder if anyone can point out any advantages they would have over a setup like this? Cornies are apparently more robust but for the money you'd be saving with pressure sprayers I suppose it would be easy enough to have them replaced.

Redsox, where are you getting the JG bulkhead for that cheap?!

:wha:

I'll be getting mine from a local builders yard.

Here one on ebay for £1.85

If anyone wants to use the "tyre valves" you can use theses...
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=Whee ... m270.l1313

(come to think about it.... they a great alternative to the S30 valve, SUPER CHEAP)

PS: Also make great carbonation caps when fitted to PET bottles. (think 3Lt cider bootle? forced carbonation!)
