Made a couple of brews recently and they're fairly lame...

5kg pale malt
250g crystal
40 IBU aurora
40g aurora for aroma
Gervin English Ale yeast

The grain was about a year old - not stored with a lot of care as it was over a house move. First time I've brewed at new house - hard water in this part of Shropshire. Haven't used Gervin for ages. SO many factors that I don't know what the real issue is. Its fairly tasteless, served with cornii at 11'C at 11 PSI. It's actually made my guts feel less than 100%

Has anyone brewed with grain this old before and had poor results, has anyone had success with old grain?

As long as it was kept dry and no rodents have got into it, it will be fine :thumb:

I've used malt several months old which was just kept in the sack with the top rolled down and in a swing top bin, brew turned out very nice
