Having watched some home brewers videos, can anyone enlighten me as to the purpose of 6 inches or so of piping on the tap please?
Plastic/PVC hose for top tap.

I assume so beer isn't oxygenated as it's pouring...

It helps with head reducing so you don't get a pint of froth
