ok i have a new question about my Pressure Barrel...
it is second hand ...
i dont no if its air tight ...

so if i fill the barral up with water ...
and put 1 canister of co2 in there ...

will this give me a good test to see if its air tight ...
or is there other ways to tell ..

i think this time i will be useing bottles for my brew ....
but i would just like to no my barral is good to go ..or not ...
your help on this will be most welcome ....
regards mick... :hat: .

I wouldnt recomend testing that way as I think that is how I split my barrel, my theory being that I had managed to get all my seals to work perfectly and the pressure built up so much that it split the seam!

I think if I were to do it again then I would fill with water and find something to add to the water that fizzed and built up presssure slower, with the little sparklet valves its all or nothing on the pressure increase front...

Fill it about one third full. Give it a squirt or two of co2 and then dunk it in a bath of water. I had a tiny split in an old barrel and this was the only way I found it.

but i think this leaves me with a problem ...
as iv got the co2 canisters ...
which are ment to be used with this presssure barrel...

i dont have or no of any thing els to add to it to pressure it slower ...

i think these canisters are all or nothing ...

can you just give them it squirt or two of co2 then ...
i thought these canisters were all or nothing ...
as you have to screw them down till you here it squirt in then thats it if you un screw it ..all the gas will just come out in to the air???

ok people ...
its all over now i tested it and it leaks very bad..
so ill be bining it ...

ill take the tap out as that works fine...

as you can see in the pic ....

some one fitted another pipe hole ...
and this leaks as well ...
if it was just the lid i would get new seals ...

i had a horible feeling about this thing all along ....

You need to use vasaline on the seals with these or they will leak. Sounds like it's too late, but try that before you bin it.

thanks bob ... :thumb: .
but yes it is to late ...
i wasnt botherd about the leaks in the co2 valve or the lid....
as i could do what you said or buy new seals...

it was the bit the guy added for a pipe ....
i couldnt get that to seal ...
and couldnt get it out to blank it off ...

so i got rid...

thinking about it i could have kept it for batch priming ...
some thimes im a bit slow at thinking ...
so now i regret getting rid... ...
