As posted previously I started brewing with no prior knowledge and only the kit available at my local (48 miles away) brew shop. I bought the Coopers starter kit with PET bottles and fermentation vessel.
Having used the kit now for 8 brews I would like to recommend this as a great starting point for any newbie.
The FV with tap and Krausen collar make the fermentation process easy with no need for airlocks etc
The collar allows the pressure to release without letting air into the vessel and even with the Coopers Stout going off like a rocket there was no leakage of bubbles. The tap on the vessel allows sampling for hydrometer readings easy without any risk of contamination.
I've now bought another of the FV’s to allow two brews at once.

No connection with Coopers etc but just think this is a great way to get started.
