I used brown sugar to strengthen my latest apple cider/wine. Got it to a nice 9%ish. Fermented all the sugar out and have been left with a nice strong tasty drink but there is a taste of brown sugar which is strangely sweet. Has anyone any tips on how to make this taste better in the future.

Thanks
Alan

Use a light brown sugar instead of a dark brown sugar next time :)

With what is brown sugar colored in the UK? Molasses or caramel? As a reference, Tienen brown sugar in Belgium is colored with molasses (and you taste it when you use it in beer with a large AA), Van Gilse brown sugar from Holland is colored with caramel.

I primed a Christmas TC with honey once, that turned out ok too 😀
