what's the best gas ring to go for?? I'm thinking of upgrading from my small one doing 2 gallon batches which is fine, but what would you recommend for 5-6 gallon batches??

any preference on propane or butane? :wha:

Plenty of discussion on this, both have their merits. Propane normally cheaper, doesn't burn with as much calorific output as butane, burns dirty (can turn everything sooty black), but doesn't freeze as easily in the regulator.
Butane, better calorific value, more expensive, freezes regulators easier than propane.
I've never had a butane reg freeze I have to say.
I use a gas ring similar to the image above (I think mines 8.5 doodahs). Whatever, you'll be amazed if you buy one - size of a squash racket. Brilliant bits of kit.
