Evening all...

Was going to made a rhubarb themed wow but my asda didn't have the copella apple and rhubarb.. doh...

So plan b.

Ingredients
4L Don Simon rgj
2L Asda rgj
4L Asda AJ
2L Asda Summer fruit drink (97% apple, some raspberry and lemon etc..)
1L strong tea (first time out with redbush/roiboos) tea )
3kg sugar
5tsp pectolase
4tsp youngs super wine yeast compound

How the magic happens.

Make up 1L of tea, leave to stew
2L rgj into the fv
Sugar in
Kettleful of boiling water
Stir well to dissolve sugar
Tip in rest of juice, pectolase (dissolved in cup of warm water)
Keep stirring well, top up with tap water to 24L
Add 1L tea
Measure SG: 1.070
Temp: 22 deg

Est abv at 0.990: 10.5%

Sorted 😃

Yeh I hadn't seen it before either, kids had a bottle of it at the weekend, tastes quite nice. Will probably be lost in the 25L batch mind you

Racked it today after not being bothered around Christmas etc...

Gave the Campdens a miss this time cos I used the redbush t-bags...

Was pretty well cleared, thanks to being in primary since 11th Dec 😊

Now what to put on next...

Hmm...

Despite degassing completely (more or less), and two lots of kwik clear... it's still pretty hazy

Can't remember now if I put pectolase in at the start... would that have made much of a difference at this stage ?

I don't think it's just cos it's too dark.... am I resigned to a cloudy one this time ?

(Not happened before) 😕

This is no help what so ever 🤣 but in one the books I'm reading at the minute (old wine beer books) it simply says:

Option 1 - Wait. It's either a pectin haze or particle haze. It will clear over time for the majority .

Option 2 - If it's a pectin haze , drink it and live with it !

Soz !

Aye thanks haha

I'll leave it for as long as I can before I need the carboy to rack one of my new brews, be a week or so for those I reckon 😃

Ah bottled it tonight anyway and as it turns out it was clear, just pretty dark, more so than I was expecting...

Nice though

Hmm just had a taste of this one again and smells/tastes vaguely like sherry 😯

Don't think I'll rush to make this one ever again....

Going to stick to the Strawberry lowicz wow next I reckon, that's class in a glass 😀
